Johnson Development Celebrates Grand Opening Of Savannah, Ga VA Clinic

Birmingham, Ala.  – The Department of Veteran’s Affairs celebrated the grand opening of the new VA Outpatient Clinic in Savannah, GA on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.  The long awaited clinic opened the doors to patients on November 14th, offering services such as pharmacy, radiology, pathology, lab medicine, ambulatory care, rehabilitation and prosthetic departments.  In addition, the clinic provides cardiology services and a women’s clinic, which were not previously available at the nearly 25 year old VA facility located off of Middleground Road.

Johnson Development was awarded the build to suit lease for the Savannah VA facility in January 2015.  Partnering with BL Harbert International and Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Johnson Development completed construction on the two-story facility in May 2016.

This clinic will serve veterans in the Savannah and surrounding area who have been forced to drive more than 100 miles to Charleston in order to receive needed medical care.  The new clinic is 70,000 square feet and almost twice the size of the facility that it replaced.  The design and layout of the additional space will reduce wait times and the frequency of trips to the larger VA medical center in South Carolina.  There is no wasted space and the patient flow is centralized around open work stations allowing ease in sharing information and collaborating on patient healthcare plans.

Johnson Development is the owner and developer of the project. BL Harbert is the general contractor and Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood designed the facility. In addition to the Lafayette project, these firms are currently partnering to deliver additional VA clinics in the United States.
