Johnson Development to Build a $16M Medical Office Facility in Waco, TX

WACO, Texas – (October 15, 2012) – To meet dynamic physician practice growth and the need for more patient-centric outpatient services in the Waco region, Johnson Development will be developing a 60,000-square-foot medical office facility on the campus of Providence Healthcare Network.

The two-story facility, expected to break ground this fall and open next fall, will include family practice physicians, pediatricians, and pediatric sub-specialists.  It will also house physical, speech and occupational therapy, imaging, lab, and retail pharmacy space, making it a convenient one-stop facility for routine outpatient services.  The building will include the only aquatic therapy and the only pediatric therapeutic playground available in the Waco market.  The retail pharmacy will offer a drive-through window for customer convenience.

“It has been clear that the Waco market needed this type of facility, and we are pleased to work with Johnson Development on the project,” said Kent Keahey, President and CEO of Providence Healthcare Network. “This project will meet a need in the market by providing patient-focused outpatient and physician services in one location.”

Johnson Development will develop the $16 million project and then will manage the facility when it’s complete. The company specializes in developing and managing medical office facilities, with a long history of success around the U.S.

Providence Healthcare Network is a member of Ascension Health, the nation’s largest not-for-profit health system, providing care at more than 1,400 locations in 21 states and the District of Columbia. “We are excited about the opportunity to develop a facility that’s going to fill a significant need in the community, while partnering with an outstanding hospital,” said Stewart Smith, a principal at Johnson Development. “We specialize in developing facilities that fit a hospital’s and community’s needs, and this work is gratifying both from a business and from a community point of view.”
