Johnson Healthcare Real Estate, a Birmingham, Alabama-based development and management firm, was recently selected by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to develop four new clinics in Lincoln, Nebraska; Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Gainesville, Florida. These facilities will serve the needs of nearly 100,000 veterans.

The recent awards, expected to be completed by 2021, will bring Johnson’s involvement in VA facilities with a value of more than $240 million. These projects include:

  • A 90,000 SF outpatient clinic in Lincoln, Nebraska, which will feature a dedicated women’s clinic, as well as primary care, prosthetics, eye care, dental, speech pathology, oncology, cardiology, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, pathology, physical therapy, mental health, and rehabilitation services. The clinic will also include a telehealth service.
  • A 45,000 SF outpatient clinic in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which will feature primary care, prosthetics, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, pathology, physical therapy, mental health, and rehabilitation services.
  • A 100,000 SF outpatient clinic in Gainesville, Florida, which will feature a dedicated women’s clinic, as well as primary care, prosthetics, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, and pathology services.

A veteran-owned company, Johnson has been involved in the planning, financing, and managing of clinics for the VA since 2014, completing four projects for the VA in Huntsville, Alabama; Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Savannah, Georgia; and Lafayette, Louisiana. The firm is currently developing a 34,000 SF mental health clinic in El Paso, Texas, which is expected to be completed in December 2019.

“As a veteran, I am especially proud that our firm can support the needs of these men and women who have served our country,” said James Milton Johnson, Chairman of Johnson.
