New Veterans Outpatient Clinic Open in Huntsville, Alabama

Birmingham, AL (September 20, 2015) – The newly opened U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs clinic in Huntsville, Alabama host a packed crowd of military, medical staff, and local politicians on October 14th. Many came to celebrate the long-awaited health center which now houses the Madison/Decatur and Huntsville community-based outpatient clinics in one facility.

The 47,800 square-foot facility, built by Johnson Development, will provide much needed primary care, mental and women’s health services, in addition to audiology, optometry, physical therapy, and on-site pharmacy. According to al.com, the Birmingham VA Medical Center Acting Director William Harper said a mobile MRI should be available in the coming future.

Harper also noted the growing veteran population in northern Alabama, and how the new clinic addresses the needs of the community.

The VA clinic has 293 parking spaces and aims to reduce wait times for all patients. It’s estimated that more than 13,000 veterans were seen between the two clinics in Huntsville and the Madison/Decatur area in the 2015 fiscal year; that number is predicted to climb.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs clinic is located at 500 Markaview Road N.W.
